Elena Rodriguez
Author of "The Art of Dreams"
The Author Behind the Magic
Elena grew up between two worlds—her mother's botanical garden in Mexico and her father's library in Los Angeles. This blend of nature and storytelling shaped her imagination from childhood. For years, she worked as a botanical illustrator while writing in her spare time. When she finally decided to pursue publishing seriously, she knew she wanted a partner who understood the importance of honoring both the botanical and narrative elements of her work.
Finding the Right Partner
"I was hesitant about traditional publishing," Elena explains. "I wanted someone who would treat my book with care and understand the cultural elements woven throughout. When I met with Writer Sprout, Miranda and the team immediately 'got' my vision."
A Collaborative Publishing Experience
Elena worked with David Kumar for author coaching focused on strengthening the book's structure while maintaining its lyrical quality. "David helped me understand that clarity and magic aren't opposites," she notes. "I could make my story easier to follow while keeping its dreamlike quality."
The editing process took five months, with Elena actively involved in revision decisions. She then worked with Sofia on cover design, choosing botanical illustrations that would capture the book's essence. "Sofia's design perfectly represents the intersection of art, nature, and storytelling that my book celebrates," Elena says proudly.
Reaching Readers Worldwide
Since publication, Elena's book has found an enthusiastic audience. The marketing strategy focused on environmental and fantasy book communities, literary bookstores, and readers interested in Latinx representation. Elena has also leveraged her background as a botanical illustrator, creating social media content that connects her art to her writing.
"The best part is hearing from readers who feel seen and represented," Elena shares. "Readers who recognize their own cultural heritage in my characters, who appreciate the botanical knowledge woven through the story. That's what it's about."
